Updated Website

My website has been given a slight makeover, chiefly in that it now actually works! I do not consider it complete, and centres primarily on my studio portrait business, but is now worthy of checking out!

Photographing Grooms

Photographing grooms can be challenging, as guys are not always all that into being photographed! Often it can be a good idea to approach it as one would a shoot of a bride; use reflections, use grand rooms, use warm light etc. I think this image ticks some of the right boxes, but as with anything in photography it's a work in progress!

Mini Landscapes

Always keep an eye out for 'mini landscapes', which are easy to ignore with the distraction of all the expansive scenery that often surrounds you during a landscape shoot. They offer a slightly different interpretation of the world around us, as they are more often than not taken from a perspective not normally observed on a day-to-day basis.

Expression, expression, expression...

Always remember that the most important thing when photographing people, but perhaps most especially children, is expression. Light is always important in photography; let's face it, you're not going to take many photos without it! But if light is all you are thinking about then you may succeed in recreating the atmosphere of a Rembrandt but fail to capture any sense of personality or life at all. Increasingly I find myself thinking 'expression, expression, expression' to myself during shoots. It doesn't send me far wrong!
